Veterinary Technician wanted. RVT/CVT/LVT not required but considered. A minimum of 12 months technician experience mandatory. Any time spent working at other positions (kennel assistant, receptionist, office manager, etc.) will be considered but will not be counted as technician experience. If you do not meet this requirement please do not apply for the position.
Position will only be awarded after completing a working interview and probational new employment period. Part time position may be extended to full time positions in the future based on job performance and schedule availability.
As our name implies we are located in the French Quarter, so please consider the commuting/parking implications. There is NO on site parking for employees.
Technicians must have proficient skills in: Animal restraint (fractious cats & aggressive large dogs), client interactions (confident & well spoken while accurately giving and receiving information, following up with clients in a timely manner), technical skills (venipuncture, radiology, basic cytologies,etc.), organization (keep track of and properly prioritize daily responsibilities & maintain proper documentation of all medical treatments and client communication). All technicians will be required to fill in as a receptionist occasionally, so extra emphasis is put on communication abilities. Additionally technicians will need to be capable of appropriately scheduling appointments, processing invoices, and reconciling daily finances.
All employees, regardless of position, are responsible for hospital cleanliness, appearance, and safely. Employees are also expected to contribute to both their professional growth and increasing hospitals standards and value. Employees will be provided with formal protocols and checklists to be used as a minimum standard. Employees are expected to proactively recognize and troubleshoot problems that are not formally designated in the company’s literature.
